香港好味道 -- 蛋撻+菠蘿包

Kingston Beats再次成功申請Kingston地方政府的社區資助(Borough-wide Community Grant)，今次計劃主題為「香港好味道」，旨在推廣和分享香港烹飪和美食文化，促進社區交流。我們將會舉辦多場香港美食分享會，重現香港人最記掛的家鄉食物，並鼓勵大家交流使用本地食材的烹調心得。首次活動的主題係菠蘿包和酥皮蛋撻，仲有最佳配搭–港式奶茶，歡迎香港人街坊參加，再次回味熟識的香港味道，更加歡迎邀請本地朋友黎一嚐香港人至愛的甜點。

Thanks to the support of the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames, we will launch a new project to promote and share Hong Kong's cooking and food culture. The first event will feature pineapple buns and pastry egg tarts.

A pineapple bun is a soft sweet bun topped with a crumbly cookie style crust of sugar, eggs, flour and lard. When cooked, the crust cracks open, giving a pineapple-like appearance on top. There’s no actual pineapple in the bun!   

Flaky Hong Kong egg tart is also one of the must-try Hong Kong foods. Its crumbly, flaky pastry and soft, creamy custard are just unbeatable. It is best paired with Hong Kong milk tea, a creamy drink made with Ceylon black tea and evaporated or condensed milk.   

Shalom Heunggong will give a demonstration of making pineapple buns. Participants will each enjoy a tea set containing a mini pineapple bun, a pastry egg tart and a bottled of chilled Hongkong-style milk tea. No matter whether you are Hongkongers recently settled in Kingston or locals who fancy traditional Hong Kong foods, don’t miss this opportunity to taste the favourite sweet staple of Hong Kong people.

2. This is a social event and not a group buy. Participants are expected to join the event and consume the food on-site. Food cannot be taken away. If ticket holders do not show up 30 minutes after the event starts, we reserve the right to resell their tickets or give away the food and no refund will be made.

3. Food ingredients include eggs, milk, soy milk, flour, gluten, sugar, and lard. Please be aware if you have food allergies.
